About the Program

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) have joined hands to launch India’s first practice-oriented four-year Bachelor of Cybersecurity (B.Cyber.) programme. It will commence in the academic year beginning July 2026.

The programme is aimed at addressing the nation’s growing demand for highly skilled cybersecurity professionals. It will equip students with the knowledge and practical expertise required to safeguard the country’s rapidly expanding digital infrastructure, strategic sectors, and emerging cyber ecosystem.

Salient Features

First 2 years of course work at IIT Madras
Next 2 years of field deployment in selected Government organizations, with possibility of fellowships
IIT Madras bachelor degree and alumnus status for candidates completing the program successfully

Eligibility and Admissions

This year, admissions will be done along with IIT Kanpur, based on the selection process defined at IIT Kanpur B.Cyber. Admissions.

Candidates selected for the program would have an option to choose either IIT Madras or IIT Kanpur.
